Philip John Clapp, also known as Johnny Knoxville, was born on March 11, 1971 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is best known for his TV series Jackass on MTV, which aired from 2000 to 2002. Knoxville eventually pulled the plug on the show because of its poor influence on teens who were imitating the stunts.
Since his time on Jackass, Knoxville has made a career in Hollywood playing supporting roles in movies. He has appeared in films along stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Will Smith and Heath Ledger. His most notable roles include Walking Tall (opposite The Rock) and Dukes of Hazzard (costarring Jessica Simpson).
Still, Jackass remained Knoxville’s most successful venture, which he later turned into three profitable movies.
Knoxville has been married twice. He and ex-wife Melanie Clapp share a daughter, Madison; Knoxville filed for divorce in 2007. In December 2009, he had a son, Rocko, with Naomi Nelson. Knoxville and Nelson, who wed in September 2010, later welcomed their second child, daughter Arlo. Us Weekly confirmed in June 2022 that the MTV personality filed for divorce after nearly 12 years of marriage.
